I never quite understood why my mom called you Ben instead of Bob. Maybe it was some new beginning. I know my mom was so happy when she got to know you Ben. After my father Al Preble died, and after my mom also lost her youngest son, my brother Jim, in the same two week period, she was devastated. As time passed and she found a new relationship with Ben this allowed her to have a new chapter in her life, a new beginning. For the last seven years she enjoyed spending time, traveling, sharing meals, and swapping doctor's visits with her new friend Ben. This has been a blessing for our mom and our family.
Special thanks to Ben's family and especially his daughters for sharing their dad's last days with my mom. As hard as it was for mom to sit beside him in the hospital and watch him fade, it was very important to her to be able to be with him, to hold his hand, and try to comfort him until the end.
God bless you Ben and the family we know you loved.

Bob Benson was, and always will be, a Cubs fan. He loved and raised his family in the land of Wrigley and as life's twists and turns led him to Florida, he became part of our family. Ann Preble, our Mama, raised her brood in the shadows of the Green Monster of Fenway. Ben, as we called Robert Benson, has the spirit of an athlete. When the doctors gave him the green light to test out his new walker he chose to do 3 laps rather than one, always fighting, always positive and confident that he was stronger than fate. His last adventure with my Mama was their adventure to Ireland, and I suspect his next great adventure will be to help Theo Epstein guide his beloved Cubs to become World Champions. This Red Sox fan will be thinking of Bob Benson as that miracle unfolds. You are loved and will be missed by all, and especially by my Mama and her 4 children. -Robert Preble (Seattle, WA)

These past few years I have spent more time with Ben than anyone, traveling and having fun.The really big thing in his life was his children and grandchildren. He wished he had more time with his children growing up, but with working and etc.he missed a lot but his grandchildren were #1 and the love of his life. Seeing the older grandchildren going to collage. He took every opportunity to spent time with the younger grandchildren. His second interest was sports. I relish the time I had with him and will miss him so much.
Love, Ann Preble

Ben, thank you for making my mom laugh for the past 7 years. Also thanks for letting her cook for you every night. There is nothing my mothers loves better than to watch someone enjoy her cooking. Thanks for being the for my when I was struggling with my recovery. You set an example of what can happen when you live one day at a time. Most of all thank you for being there for my Mom, physically, spiritually and emotionally.
