Richard Swanson Obituary

Richard Ray "Swannie" SWANSON Age 77, of Seattle, passed away unexpectedly 11/25/05. Born in Kirkland, WA 8/8/28, "Dick" was a lifelong Teamster and retired from Garrett Freight Lines. He also worked in the mutuels at Playfair and Longacres Racetracks. He coached for the Catholic Youth Organization, and received "Coach of the Year" award from St. Luke's, leading his basketball team to the City Championship game. Dick loved playing and coaching baseball and basketball. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and horseracing. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruth Kennard Swanson of Seattle; sons, Steven (Kathleen) Swanson and Martin Swanson; daughters, Suzan Berard, Sally Swanson, and Alice (Steven) Mish; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster children, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 5th, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1240 N. E. 127th St., Seattle. Hoffner Fisher & Harvey In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Northwest Kidney Center, P. O. Box 3035, Seattle, WA 98114.
