Richard Shorr Obituary

I just heard of Rick's passing from PAWS Chicago Angel Tales. I had many a wonderful meal at Rick's Restaurant, Pasta Cucina. It was a difficult time of my life, but Rick was always able to lift my spirits with a glass of wine, a great dinner, and conversation. One night he was especially busy. I asked him what was going on and he beamed as he said that his aunt was coming to the restaurant for the first time. And we often spoke of our pets, his dogs and my cats. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

Dear Shorr Family:

I was at a loss when I read of Rick's passing. Rick was one of my best friends when we were at Columbia College together in 1979. He was warm, funny and always up for an adventure. Please take comfort in the fact that not only did he love all of you dearly, he also admired each and everyone of you.

Until this day, when a Styx song airs on the radio I smile and remeber Rick fondly because Styx and Rick are synonomous. He made my days at Columbia College a lot easier and when we worked together on stories for the newspaper we were able to complete each other's sentences.

My fondest memory of Rick is when he surprised me and took me to a Journey concert for my birthday. He told me we were going to a family barbeque..I even packed homemade potato salad...let's just say it did not last throughout the concert. It was just like him to share a random act of kindness.

Rick and I lost touch over the years, but he never lost that special place in my heart. Please know that he may not be walking on this earth any longer but he has left so many footprints on people's hearts, especially mine, that he will never be forgotten.

May you find peace in God's wisdom at this time and know that all of you will be in my prayers. I know through my own loss, that talking about your loved one helps the healing process as we continue on our journey of grief management.
