Mr. Laner was the first real boss I ever had. While at Northeastern IL. University , I worked part-time downtown at Dorfman, DeKoven, Cohen & Laner. For many years I kept in contact with Mr. Laner, as I valued his professional expertise and his kind, gentle manner. Throughout my varied careers, Mr. Laner remains in my memory as one of the best, most respected bosses I was privileged to work for. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. We have lost a wonderful man. Christina LoPiccolo

Please accept my condolences to Dick's family, friends and colleagues. I enjoyed working with Dick - although it was most often on the opposing side. He was a man of integrity, concern, and good humor.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dick. We met about 15 years ago and continued our meetings on almost a weekly basis in court. The court was a handball court. Dick and I were handball partners here in Chicago for over 10 years. It was a blast. The gentleman off the court was the gentleman on the court. The language may not have been the same but the rough words always directed at himself. He had a great serve. When it was working it was impossible to return, a joy to watch as his partner, and, left him on cloud nine as we walked off the court.
May he be in cloud nine now.
I am forever thankful for the fond memories and lively conversations.
