Richard Berlinger Obituary

Berlinger, Richard M.

1943-2022

A kind warm-hearted man who loved life and enjoyed the company of his friends and family. The only son to Dr. Harold and Jewell Berlinger – he lived life to the fullest. After having worked at Northeastern University in the mailroom for over 30 years, he relished retirement and took advantage like no other of his new found time. He became an avid golfer who looked forward for his time on the golf course with his friends. And then when he couldn't play golf due to weather, he still found time to go to lunch or dinner to share time and stories with his buddies (as he called them). He always found time to spend with his cousins – whether it be traveling to Montana every Labor Day or seeing those in Arlington and Milwaukee.

His annual birthday dinner was an event he cherished and planned for where he was surrounded by family and friends. He was loved by so many and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, it is preferred that donations be made either to the Jewell Berlinger or to the Harold Berlinger Scholarship funds at Northeastern University in Chicago. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022 11 am to 2 pm at Alumni Hall, Northeastern Illinois University, 5500 North St. Louis Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625-4699.
