I was thinking about Dick last week how he would stride up and down Michigan Ave. He always had a smile for people, I loved seeing him and having a quick moment.
I was a rep for commercial photographers and once Dick and I talked about reping for him with the Veeck show since I was always at the agencies I could also make calls on the broadcast people. He invited me to meet Bill & Mary Veeck and with Patricia we met at the Wrigley Restaurant I wasn't able to do the enterprise much good the photography business got busier and I wasn't able to devote the time selling the Veeck show. Dick and I talked and I moved on but Dick Baldwin never reproached or criticized me for not delivering he was always warm and friendly whenever we met.
I am now 79 I was 24 when I met Dick and I will always remember him as a wonderful man a gentle lion on Michigan Ave happy, striving and sweet!!

I am sad that Dick has passed, my condolences to Pat and the family.
I remember Dick so well as he strolled Michigan avenue, always a generous smile, a moment to chat and off to the business battles.
I briefly worked for Dick trying to sell the Veek drive time show, I was young and in another area of advertising but Dick convinced me that I would be good for the job, well I wasn't, but he never criticized me, he just laughed and said that "well, we gave it a good try"; through Dick I met Pat briefly, and was taken with their love, and wonderful way with each other, humor, caring, and a team!
I had not seen Dick in many years and even though we did not maintain contact I never forgot him he was one of a kind, and as the Irish say "a lovely man"

I knew Dick in Evanston High School class of '47. We played Football and he volunteered to run my campaign for class president.I didn't win,but it wasn't his fault. He was the tallest in our class so naturally he was an end in football and a center in basketball.I enjoyed seeing him at our 50 reunion. GOOD MAN!
