Michael and Emebet O'Donoghue

October 4, 2018

Our deepest condolences to the family of Ricardo Salvana.
I am so sorry that this is over two years late but we just found out of Ricardo's passing. I don't know how we didn't hear of it at the time.
Our daughter Danielle O'Donoghue was a classmate of Ricardo during their time at Decatur Classical School and the graduating Class of 2003. I think they even had an innocent little crush on each other in 6th Grade.
We lost our Danielle on September 15, 2016, only a couple of weeks after Ricardo passed.
This is beyond heartbreaking. Many of Danielle's former classmates consoled with us and I don't recall any of them mentioning Ricardo. If they did perhaps I was so caught up in my own devastating grief that it didn't register.
I only found out about this tragedy this week while monitoring our Danielle's social media accounts where it was posted on the Decatur Class of 2003 page that the class has lost yet another member this week. That is three young people from the same graduating class gone all too soon.
I know the pain you have gone through and continue to go through and I have no words to comfort it.
I hope you can forgive us for not being there for you at the time. We will pray for you.

Sincerely

Gracie Valena

PRAYER FOR RICKY
Lord, help us to see death for what it really is,
the end of poverty and the beginning of riches;
the end of frustration and the beginning of fulfillment;
the end of fear and the beginning of tranquility;
the end of pain and the beginning of joy;
the end of weakness and the beginning of strength.
Let not grief overwhelm us, or a sense of loss embitter us.
But out of our sadness let there arise a new joy
for so much given to us.
Cast out our fears and let not our hearts be troubled.
Let Your spirit of peace come alive
within our experience and hurt,
our sorrow and isolation,
our sadness today and loneliness tomorrow.
We humbly commend to You, Ricky
whom You have called out of this mortal life.
You loved him always with great love.
Now that You have freed him from all evils of this earth,
bring him into Your paradise
where there is no more grief or mourning or sadness
but peace and joy with Your Son
and the Holy Spirit forever.
We thank You for all the blessings
You have given to Ricky in his mortal life.
We pray that he may be able to glorify You
with the life that he lived and the way
he made use of his blessings.
Lord God, grant that we will never forget
that life is short and uncertain.
Let Your spirit guide us in holiness, justice
and service to our brothers and sisters.
We pray for the healing of all unhappy feelings
Ricky's death now leaves in our hearts.
Be with us, Lord, during our moments
of sorrow and loneliness.
You are our rock, our fortress and our strength.
We trust in You and hope
in Your glorious resurrection.
We lift up to You our grief and sorrow
confident that You will change
our mourning to rejoicing
that our beloved Ricky now rests in Your peace.
Leader: Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
All: And let Your perpetual light shine upon him.
Leader: May he rest in peace.
All: Amen.
Leader: May the soul of Ricky
and the souls of all the faithful departed
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
All: Amen.

Our deepest sympathy to the Salvana family. We know how deeply he will be missed by his family and relatives. We didn;t know Ricky too well as an adult but as a child he was so smart, talented, creative, curious, and highly energized. He was close and caring of his family. His Grandma Perla was a big influence in bringing out the brilliant mind God gave him and she artfully directed his high energy in a positive way. We are very saddened to hear of his passing but take comfort he will be in the welcoming and comforting arms of his Grandma Perla. May God give the Salvana family the strength to endure their loss at this time.
