Baylen, Rey G.

Rey G. Baylen of Des Plaines, passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2022. Born December 30, 1947 in Iloilo, Philippines to Norberto and Aniceta, the 5th of 13 children. He finished his Bachelor of Laws at University of Iloilo and was a managing editor of the local newspaper, The Visayan Tribune founded by his father. Rey moved to Chicago after marrying his loving wife of almost 48 years, Justicia. He worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician for 36 years before retiring in 2013. Rey is survived by his wife, son Reynald (Dina), 3 beloved grandchildren Austin, Reydin, and Audrey; brother Melvin (Evelyn) Baylen, sisters Linda (Romeo) Tugbang, Merlyn (Neri) Tan, Vivien (Jose) Ondoy, Nancy Helen (Hilmar) Pecaoco, Leslie (Isabelo) Jardiniano, Mary Jane (Roberto) Pe Benito, and Arlene (Rex) Pondias. As well as numerous treasured nephews, nieces, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Baron, Noel, Jerome, and Joseph. A celebration of Rey's life will be held at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines on Saturday, November 19th at 12pm, with visitation starting at 10am. There will be a luncheon following the service.
