Raymond Ransome Obituary

Celia, and family, I sent my deepest regrets that i have just learned about ray..He was my saviour more then a couple of times. I've known Ray for 30 years since Tucson Vans. i regret i haven't talked to Ray since Mike Mckain pasted away. It has been to long. My thoughts will always be with you and you're family. CELIA - On behalf of the many vanning friends throughout California and Arizona that attended the (old time vanners) Super Bowl party...Cherokee, Tom Chronister, Nancy, Harri, Janet (Fuzz), Dave & Syl, Penny & Beerdo, Greg Benedict (Neil's brother who passed away 4 days earlier), Carl & Janice (AZ), Steve & Linda, Billo & Karen, Pammie & Patsy, Bill & Jackie, Robert (Banana) and others - RAY WILL BE MISSED. A special Indian ritual by Cherokee was given to send Ray to the great hunting ground.

It has been almost 2 months, and I hope that as time goes on it will be easier and that you find all memories of comfort to all of you.

Ray had a charismatic personality and a way of making everyone feel welcome. He saw the good in people and overlooked their faults. He embraced life with enthusiam and love. He touched the hearts of so many people. He was my best friend and I will miss him! See ya in a bit !

I always told Ray he was an angel on this earth....a good man...He was always there to lend a helping hand. To quote a friend, "Ray reached for my hand and touched my heart." I shall always remember him as my fellow vanning buddy and most awesome friend.

I trust you all know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I will miss Ray a lot, but he lives on in my memory. Your loss is one that can only truly be understood by his family. I trust the knowledge that Ray was loved by so many will help ease your loss at least a little.

We've known Ray many years through vanning. We'll miss him terribly - he always had kind words for everyone.

I first met Ray while dealing with a back yard project. He installed our drip irrigation system from that meeting and became our ongoing yard maintenance person. We had many talks about life, God, family. He was a very spiritual man and we will miss him very much. Our hearts go out to his family at this time of great loss.

Ray will be missed deeply by his extended Vanner family across the entire North America continent. His charm and wit were always a bright spot at the vanning events that he attended. I am sure a toast will be said in his honor at the Super Bowl Party in February. Keep On trucking Ray, we'll see ya at the big van run in the heavens.

Ray was my first friend in Tucson. He had a special way of meeting strangers and making them " One of the gang ". I will miss him very much and always be grateful to him for introducing me to you, Celia, my dear friend.

"Butchie", Larry & Lorri were like family to Renee, Mark and me. Time and distance may have separated us but love bound us together.

I shall miss his calls, e-mails and warm personality, but most of all, I shall miss his presense in the world.

RAY WAS MY BEST FRIEND,I WILL MISS HIM EVERY DAY.I HAVE TOASTED HIM BEFORE AND WILL DO SO AGAIN,TUESDAY OUT IN THE PARKING LOT,WITH TEQUILA AND ALMOND TEQ.HOPE EVERY ONE THAT KNOWS THAT TRADITION WILL JOIN US FOR A TOAST TO RAY AND HIS PASSAGE TO THE GREAT HONKY TONK IN THE SKY WHERE ALL THE DANCES ARE HOT AND THE GLASSES DO NOT EMPTY NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU DRINK,AND THE BANDS PLAY ALL THE RIGHT MUSIC.

I remember the first time I met Ray. All he knew about me was I had a bad day at work. He put his arm around me and said it would be alright. He never let me out of his sight all night and kept checking to make sure I was o.k. That was Ray. He was such a good man in many ways. I will miss my dear friend who was always there for me no matter what. My prayers are with his family who he loved so much. God bless

I was stunned, and so sorry, to hear of Ray's passing; he was such a permanent fixture in the dance community. Ray was at Stumble Inn when I first happened upon the scene in 1979, and I believe he was at the Cactus Moon the last time I managed to get there. I'll always remember his infectious enthusiasm for dancing, fondness for good tequila, and courteous friendliness to everyone around him.

I know that many people are thinking of you at this difficult time. Please accept my deepest sympathies...my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope that your memories will in time bring you and your family a measure of comfort and peace.
