I will miss you so much Grandpa.... Life will not be the same without you in it... I am 43 and have had you my whole life... from being a little girl running into your arms... to an older girl that would eagerly show you my swimming ribbons and medals....to a woman whose hand you squeezed on my Wedding day...held my children when they were born....and always knew exactly what was going on in my life..my Mike`s life.... and theirs... How you did that I never really knew... it wasn`t like I was the only grandchild you had.. :-)
but still you always knew...and asked me about the dogs I was working and what was happening in my life and always knew just what the kids were doing and saying....
The fact you knew my children as you did ...and they knew you ..makes me feel so fotunate even though I am so sad as I type now because I know it will not be any longer....

I love you Granpa... Thank you for loving me despite my many flaws and always making time for Mike and I and Gracie and Michael...

Love You...

He was a Great Grandfather, Grandfather, an Uncle and a Dad and he was beloved in every single way. Great Grandpa was a great man and he loved all of us the same excact amount. I miss you Great Grandpa, and I love you so much. I will never forget you.

January 27, 2011

For so many years while all the women and girls 12 and older went to galena, the younger girls and the men would hang out. Every year Rosie, Michael, Eve, Noah, myself, and the other kids would put on a fake news show called The Wacky News on Channel 9. Great Grandpa would sit in the middle and watch. He always laughed at it. Great Grandpa always knew what was going on. He was very supportive with Eve and my dance. He always knew what place we got and was excited for us. I loved to hear him talk about everything. I always saw him either in his red chair in his bedroom, or in the other red chair in the living room by the fire place listening to his tapes. Still I go into there bedroom thinking I will se them. I love him and miss him so much. He was and still is a great man. Thanks for the memories.

Love,
Grace

When I was about 10, Grace and I were talking about weddings. I said grandpa and grandma will be at mine, but as I got older I realized that might not happen. I remember whenever we went to their old house we would always find the bulls eyes candy in the candy jar on the counter and eat them. When we went over for dinner I would set the table and get drinks, grandpa would always have root beer. Sometimes when we went over I would play my flute for him and his face would always light up. And after we went trick or treating we would always save the tootsie rolls for grandpa. Grandpa you are greatly missed I love you so much.

Gramps, You're the reason I am the way I am to this day. I love you so much for all the Sunday Cubs game we had together. You're amazing. I know looking down today, you wouldn't have thought anything different then while having a Metzger gathering, all of the family being outside having a snowball fight, white washing eachother, "breaking in the new family" and just celebrating what a great life you had and what a beautiful family you started. Love Ya Grandpa. You'll never be forgotten.

I always loved talking to Grandpa. He had such wonderful things to say and great advice. I will never forget how much he lit up when he learned I wanted to be a pilot. He would tell me a bunch of facts and interesting stories about planes. He told me he wanted to be one too and said to go for it! Now, more than ever, I want to. I love you so much Grandpa and I will always keep you alive through memory.

I will always cherish our "Army Talks". It was fascinating hearing military stories from a different era. He and I shared a bond of brotherhood, though we were so many years apart. I will miss you grandpa Metzger, and my kids will miss you! The girls told me that you are with granny(my gma) in heaven, and with Jesus. Celine and I were comforted by the words of a couple of 3 yr olds. : )

I'm the luckiest person in the world to have a granfather-in-law who loved me so much as if I were his own. Now I never have to question what it's like to have one. Both of mine passed before I was born and Grandpa Metzger filled the spot like no one else ever could! I love you so much and will miss you greatly! I will think of you at all my soccer games!
