Raymond W. Bogart, 80, of Effort, died Friday, April 9, at his home. He was the loving husband of Hilda (Merkle) Bogart. They had been married 53 years.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 14, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Sheehan) Bogart.
Until his retirement in 1986, he was employed as a manager for New York Telephone Company, New York City, N.Y., for 20 years.
A decorated U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He served our country for 12 years.
He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans in Brooklyn, N.Y.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Hilda, he is survived by six loving children, Raymond Bogart and his wife Harriet of Brooklyn, N.Y., Connie Branch and her husband Richard of Effort, Odette Rawcliff and her husband James of Sebring, Fla., Renee Bogart and her fiancé Dennis Nardulli of Wilmington, N.C., John Bogart and his wife Anna Maria of Easton, and Janine Bogart-Mandrik and her husband Edward of Hawley; three brothers, James Bogart of Portland, Maine, Charles Bogart of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Calvin Bogart of Long Island, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Yvonne Bogart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, at Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert. The Rev. Deborah K. Scheffey will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fort Indiantown Gap National Veterans Cemetery, Annville.
