Gambony, Randy L. 48, died September 19th, in Fishers, Indiana, as he was headed to Franklin, Pa., with his wife, Mrs. Randy L. (Amanda Hanson) Gambony, to be near his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Hanson who are Franklin residents, as he continued his nine month battle with esophageal cancer. Mr. and Mrs. Gambony lived in Indianapolis, In., where Mr. Gambony was known to bring vitality, stamina, and service to his daily work as Asst. Mgr. for Harlem Furniture, and at his weekly Wed. night Bible Study at Wheeler Mission to tell the homeless of Indiana about God. Mr. and Mrs. Gambony met during his studies at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Lombard, IL, while he served as an outreach minister for Emmaus Ministries -- a position for which he raised his own financial support in order to reach male prostitutes on the streets of Chicago with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mr. Gambony earned his Master of Divinity degree in 2003 from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. Just prior to his death, Mr. Gambony was registered to begin his Doctor of Ministry studies in Family and Marriage counseling at Christian Theological Seminary, in Indianapolis, as he planned to serve as an ordained pastor. On February 24, 2001, on St. Matthias Day, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Mr. Gambony married Amanda Vincent Hanson, who survives him. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Donald (Maxine Beardsley) Gambony, Milwaukee; three sisters: Donna Jean Smolinski, Carpentersville, Il., Debbie Ritchie, Waterford, Wis., Kim Lutsch, Centennial, Co; three brothers: Mike Gambony, Phoenix, Az., Mark Gambony, Kissimmee, Fl., Donald Gambony, Waukegan, Il.; and, many nieces and nephews. Going before Mr. Gambony in death are his father, Donald L. Gambony and his brother, Steve Gambony. A Memorial Service will be offered Saturday, October 4th, at 10 a.m., at The First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, 500 Anthony, Glen Ellyn, IL, 60137. Tel: (630) 469-2007. Dedication Service. A Dedication Service will be held Sunday, October 12, at St. Leonard's House, Chicago, IL, to dedicate the communion table donated by The First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, IL, to St. Leonard's in honor of Mr. Gambony and his service at St. Leonard's. Mr. Gambony joyfully led St. Leonard's weekly Sunday evening chapel worship service for residents of its home, formerly incarcerated men returning to the community from Illinois prisons. Many of the men in the Sat. morning Bible Study group along with many at First Pres., Glen Ellyn considered Mr. Gambony their friend. "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13. Please contact Mr. Jeff Siefert of the First Pres., Glen Ellyn men's group for additional information at (312) 505-1091. Memorial Gifts may be sent to: Emmaus Ministries, 921 W. Dear Amanda,
You have no idea how heart-sick and sorry we are for you in your loss. Randy had so much energy and love for the Lord that it is hard to imagine such an enthusiastic voice being stilled. Be assured that you are in our prayers as the one who gave you Randy and loves him, continues to care for him and you. I cannot imagine the grief and pain and flood of feelings which you must be experiencing, but neither can I imagine the wonderful healing love and grace that will get you through this anger, hurt and sorrow, until something like "normal" again returns to your life and you continue to serve God in this new phase of life you have been given. If Linda & I did not live so far south, we would have been with you in your grief physically even as we are now in prayer. May you continue to feel that love & grace which is God's eternal gift to you in all situations.
Shalom,
John Billow

Amanda, your friends at Northern Seminary pray for God's promises and peace to comfort you and strengthen you during these days. Randy was a blessing to many, as his testimony to God's saving grace in Jesus Christ was very powerful.
