Randolph Mahanes Obituary

Randolph W. Mahanes, 56, of Charlottesville, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in a local hospital from complications of multiple-sclerosis.

Born October 1, 1948, in Newport News, Va., he was the son of Lucille Elder Mahanes of Poquoson, Va., and the late Guy Peyton Mahanes. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mahanes.

Mr. Mahanes attended Louisa County Schools and Old Dominion University. He served four years in the United States Air Force. He retired from Sperry Marine after 25 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving both as a Sunday School teacher and on the Prayer Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Watson Mahanes; two daughters, Kimberly Lynn Mahanes of Palmyra and Karen Beth Mahanes of Charlottesville; one son, Scott Randolph Mahanes of Charlottesville; one brother, Peyton Mahanes of Poquoson; and one grandchild, Ethan Andrew Milleson.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday , July 23,2005, at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Lindsey Sadler officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2005, at the Teague Funeral Home.

Flowers are welcomed or a contribution may be made to the Multiple- Sclerosis Society, 1 Morton Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
