(Harrison) Migala, Philip and Barbara
Philip and Barbara (Harrison) Migala-Chicago-born and raised-will be laid to rest together on September 27, 2025, in their hometown, according to their wishes. Philip Raymond, born September 27, 1940, was a hardworking and devoted husband and father. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962 and later worked for Ryerson Steel, first in Chicago and then in Plymouth, Minnesota, until his retirement in 1995. Philip passed away on April 20, 2025.
Barbara Gail, born August 17, 1940, was a dedicated wife and mother. She spent many years as a stay-at-home mom before working as a paraprofessional for the Robbinsdale School District, where she continued even beyond her official retirement. Barbara passed away on November 23, 2023.
Phil and Barb grew up just blocks apart in the McKinley Park neighborhood, attending church and school together throughout their youth. They married in 1962 and relocated to Minnesota in 1967. Their life together was filled with love: two adopted children, two grandchildren, two homes, countless family trips, decades of friendships, and thousands of memories. Most importantly, they shared 61 years of a close, loving, and steadfast marriage until Barb's passing from metastatic breast cancer. Honoring his wish, Barb's cremains remained with Phil at home so they would never be parted.
Welcoming Phil and Barb into eternal life are their parents, Walter and LaVerne Migala, and Bruce and Betty Harrison; Phil's siblings Dennis (Myrna) and Patricia (John) Maxwell; and their beloved son, Ian, who passed earlier in 2023 and was laid to rest with Barb's parents in Wisconsin. They will be deeply missed by their loving daughter, Cindy (Brent) Grothe; granddaughters, Liz (Hunter Thurman) and Rachel Grothe; sister Grace (Gary) Ohlrogge; brother Bruce (Diane) Harrison; 13 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; lifelong friends; extended family; former coworkers; and caring neighbors.
Interment will take place at 11 a.m. on September 27, 2025, in the Cremation Memorial Garden at Bethania Cemetery in Justice. A traditional Polish funeral luncheon will follow at Sawa's Old Warsaw Restaurant in Broadview. Family and friends near and far-all who knew and loved Phil and Barb-are warmly invited to join as we lay them to rest and celebrate their lives.
