Banasek, Petranella "Pat" Mary died January 11, 2003, born February 8, 1907; wife of the late Felix Banasek; mother of John Martin (Eleanor) Banasek; grandmother of Greg (Michele), Jeff (Tammy) and Mark (Christi); great grandmother of Jake, Sam, Anna-Beth, Maggie and Robin and step-grandmother of Susan Hickey-Wiley (Donald); sister of the late Casey (Ann) Jurevich and Stanley (June) Young; daughter of the late Stanislovas and Petronele Yourevich; former mother-in-law of Judy (Banasek) Bratton (nee Hess), aunt and friend to many. Pat was the first woman officer (Treasurer) elected to the Illinois Safe Deposit Association. She was a longtime Corporate Assistant Secretary and Vault manager at Talman Federal Savings and Loan Association, volunteer to the American Cancer Society and creator of a much-improved prosthesis for breast cancer patients. Author of the "Library of Forms" for the American Safe Deposit Associations, co-collaborator of the "Manual of Recommended Procedures for Safe Deposit Operations" and Author of many short stories and poems. A twenty-two year resident of the Mather Home in Evanston where she initiated a quilting program to provide warm quilts to needy children. Pat lived life always with a smile, a good word for all and known from time to time to tell a somewhat spicy story. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Mather Home, 1615 Hinman Ave., Evanston. Interment will be private. Info., Donnellan Family Funeral Services. 847-869-2900.
