Peter Blum Obituary

Blum, Peter born in Chicago, August 13, 1954 died May 14, 2004 of esophageal cancer caused by stress. Peter's greatest gifts were his children David, Jill, Andrea and Michael. His wife, Hilde also survives him. Further survived by his mother, Anna and his stepfather, Louis of France, two aunts, Heidi (late Josef) Eichner of Niles, Martha (late George) Limbrunner of Aurora, wonderful and dear friend John Hart of Streamwood, and the love and support of the "Koziol's" of Berwyn. He was also grateful for the prayers, help and good counsel of new friends from Village Baptist Church in Aurora. He loved his home in Plainfield and all the wonderful neighbors. He taught his children and wife patience, unconditional love, and the true unselfish depth and meaning of being a family. His inner strength and day-to-day support will never be forgotten. Peter loved to take his family camping and telling ghost stories at night by the campfire. He provided a warm and wonderful home where he loved early mornings in the backyard sipping coffee and dreaming of ways to make his yard an oasis of serenity. Before stress resulted in the deterioration of his physical and mental health, Peter worked for 20 years at the corporate office of Ace Hardware in Oak Brook as a network analyst. Afterward he took great pride in devoting himself to the care and well-being of his family. Visitation Sunday, May 16, 2004, 2 to 8 p.m. at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Dr., Naperville, IL. Funeral service 7 p.m. Interment private. Information 630-922-9630.

Hilde - something like this always serves to remind us to take time for our families and ourselves. There is no way to predict what will happen when. Take solace in your children and friends and always carry a piece of Peter with you. kb

Hilde:

I was sadden to hear about Peter and his terrible sickness. Stress can cause alot of different illnesses. You had better be strong and continue on with the great things he was trying to teach his children. He was there for all of you, and now you have to be there for them. You are a strong, loving Mother, and I am sure you will keep your family strong. and you have alot of wonderful memories of Peter to share with your children.

Dear Hilde,

Whatever I say is worth nothing towards your grief, but I will still say it.

I know from your stories, how great a man a husband, and a father he was. I am sure those who knew him will miss him a lot.

My and my family's prayer with you.

Dear Hilde,

When someone loses a loved one who has meant so much to them, it's hard to know how to begin to express sympathy and words of comfort. We can only say that because you're so important to us, your sorrow touches us deeply...and we want you to know that we care much more than we could ever find words to tell you. With our deepest sympathy to you and your children.
