Duhl, Pearl "Gerry" (nee Gierman), June 28, 1921 -March 20, 2007, beloved wife for 63 years of Irwin "Irish" Duhl, devoted mother of Harriet (Richard) Arons, Joel (Peggy) Duhl and Cheryl (Dennis) Hanno, dearest grandmother of Carrie (Kabir) Udeshi, Garrett Arons, Clayton (Valerie) Duhl, Katie Link, Eric Hanno and Andrew Arons, adoring great-grandmother of Kylie Sierra Link and Lillian Rose Duhl, loving sister of the late Louis (Marcella) Gierman, Sylvia (the late Hyman) Lesk and the late Sam Duhl, fond aunt of many. Her cherished and selfless soul will live on through all who have known her. Chapel service Friday, 10 a.m., at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. This was my eulogy from my Grandmother's funeral: I have specific memories of recent times that capture Grandma's spirit and which reflect the gifts she left with us, which is the love of family, life, tradition and God and all of what I just mentioned can offer us. In February she took pleasure in ordering apple pie with ice cream and seeing me finish it off, she was excited to pick out new books for her great grandaughter Lillian, during Rushashuna, she called me and asked me to do something to remember my Jewish Heritage, in April she got up and danced at Carrie's wedding, and a little over a year ago she got on the ground and tried to teach my daughter Lillian to crawl. To remember and honor her I or we can strive to enjoy each other's love and company and truly enjoy the wonders of the world that we are presented with.
