Paul Burkey Obituary

Paul Eugene Burkey
age 83, of Alliance, passed away May 20, 2013. Paul was born Nov. 28, 1929 in Alliance, the son of the late Paul H. and Bernice (Bills) Burkey. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Signal Corp in Austria during World War II. He worked as a switching technician for AT&T -Ohio Bell in Canton and operated film projectors at numerous theaters in the area, the last being Cinemark of Alliance. Paul was a member of the Alliance Senior Citizens Center and Senior Citizens Club.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; stepson, Robert Roberts; brother, Lawrence Wallace and sisters, Dorothy Grimes and Elizabeth Story. Paul is survived by his sister, Annette (Donald) Wilson; brothers, William Burkey and Gary (Joanne) Burkey; step-daughter-in-law, Kathleen Roberts; step-grandchildren, Kathleen Ruth, Kevin (Ellen) Roberts and Thomas (Megan) Roberts; five step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment with full military honors will be conducted Friday May 31, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Condolences and special memories may be shared online at
