Beloved husband of Virginia "Ginny" (nee Donahue), loving father of Patrick (the late Mary), Kevin Hickey and Joan (Lawrence) DeMatteo, cherished grandfather of Nora, Conor and Clare Hickey, Kevin and Jack DeMatteo, dearest brother of Helen (the late Daniel) Brennan, the late Mary (the late Jerry) Sullivan, Laurence (the late Alice) Hickey, Michael (the late Mona) Hickey, Nora (the late Edward) Burke, Jack Hickey, Marguerite (the late William) Winters, Joan (the late Thomas) Lewis, Bart (Betty), Sylvester (Aurelia), Donald (Dolores) and Kathleen Hickey, kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Sorry I missed the wake. Said a prayer for Pat Hickey Sr. today at mass. Among the many regrets of my life is never having had the honor of meeting him. God bless you Pat and all the Hickeys.

The sleeping prince of this world is mourned today.
We say good night to him again with our wreaths and our tears.
No one knows as well as the family the meaning of this day.
We see the crosses, row by row and the boy, man, father and husband is gone from our lives.
Today we stand at the grave of Pat Hickey and in our hearts come a strange feeling.
Is there a wreath large enough to match the beauty of his devotion to his family and his country? I think not, he did not want wreaths of glory or fame.
Just a simple man, and he loved us all and we honor him today and he will be always in our hearts.
May God Bless Uncle Pat and his family today and always.

It's very difficult for me to say good-bye to such a wonderful, wise, and always funny man as Uncle Pat, so I will just say thanks for all the time that I was able to spend with you in my life, and thank you for all the memories that I will have forever. Glen Gunkel Sr.
