I am sadden that years later I have discovered that Mrs. Tamburrino has passed away. To her children, and beloved husband and all family members. My deepest condolences. She was my assistant principal at Funston Elementary. I will never forget my mother passed away when I was in 2nd grade and she kept an eye out for me each grade I advanced to. She made sure I was okay emotionally, very strict and firm and had a heart of gold. She drove me to represent the City of Chicago as an alderman for a day, since my father couldn“t take me as he had to work. She will forever be remembered as my school Angel mom who was sent to help me achieve much success and greatness. It is people like her where her legacy will forever be remembered. With love and gratitude. Jennifer Calvillo.

To Pat's Family,
I just learned this evening of your Mom's passing. I was in shock, and I am just numb. I had the pleasure of "hanging out" with your Mom on Wednesday nights as that was bowling night for us!
Your Mom is one of the most lovely women I have ever met. She was so much fun, and always so nice. She was in charge of our "mystery pot" every week. She was quite the little organizer! She kept track of who won every week, and at the end of our bowling year at the banquet, she would distribute a list of the lucky winners, and how much they had won, and even what date they won the mystery pot! She did this every week and would NEVER accept not even one dollar for a tip, she would just say "I enjoy doing this, so please keep your winnings"
I will miss your Mom on Wednesdays. She will always be the very nice lady who bowled with me. I will miss her smiling face terribly. I'm sure she is running the Wednesday night "mystery pot" for the league upstairs now......
They say God only takes the best. He sure hit the jackpot with your Mom. May she rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Chris Duffy

Dear Loved Ones,
Thank you all so much for your kind words and for sharing the connections you had with our mom. For Dave and I, she was everything...our teacher, our guide, our support, our biggest fan, our mom. To know what she meant to so many others is comforting.
With Love,
Deb and Dave Tamburrino

Dear David & Deb,
There are no words to adequately express the sadness I feel. There is nothing in life that prepares us for what it is like to loose a parent. My heart aches for you both.
Cousin Pat was and always will be a true expression of Love. I love her & miss her.
She was such a source of strength for me when my Mom passed and she taught me so much about life during the months that followed. Somehow she just knew the moment to call to give me support.
I have a treasure chest filled of wonderful memories, dating back to my earliest childhood. Your Mom was ALWAYS so much fun to be with! She loved all of us unconditionally! I remember the home Aunt Ruth & Pat lived in on Bellwood Ave. I remember Pat on the back porch hand-feeding the squirrels that lived in the huge weeping willow tree in the back yard. Thanksgiving Day was not a true traditional holiday without Aunt Ruth & Pat and later with your Dad and the two of you too. Happy happy times that I will forever cherish.
I am so very thankful for your Mom and her love. Your Mom is truly an inspiration and expressed all the qualities that most of us aspire to have... she was patient, gentle, creative, talented, organized, fun loving, a wonderful teacher, always positive, joyful, thoughtful, an excellent cook & accomplished fudge maker, loved her garden, and most of all, she always put others before herself. Pat's generosity was in itself simply inspirational!
The things that gave her the most happiness in life were the two of you! You are the best of her! She loved you with everything she had and is so incredibly proud of you! All her qualities live through you!
I love you both and will keep you close in my thoughts.
Love & Hugs,
Alice

To The Family Of Pat Tamburrino
I thank God that you supported Pat when she decided to believe in my; multicultural,... vision, and became a strong partner of the "Austin High School Alumni Association". This joint venure became a strong part of her Legacy.
Pat became my confidant, mentor, sister and friend. She was more than a Treasurer of the,"Board of Directors". She was also a strong kindhearted loving person.
We always ended our conversations with,"I Love You". My friend taught everyone the value of consistency,
determination,account
ability,
punctuality,fun,creative
expression,and love.
I will miss her paintings and delicious fudge. I will also miss the memories about the exployers, family vacations with her children, the farm and lunch away from school.
Pat will be honored during our 115th Anniversary celebration,on September 28, 2005,at Austin High School. She will never be forgotten. She's irreplaceable.
Her sister in Christ! Diondai

I had the joy of meeting Ms. Pat 2 years ago when we began the board for the AHSAA. She always worked hard to help make sure that the children at Austin were taken care of. I had the pleasure of hearing her stories like gardening, the clovers in her yard, and she spoke so highly of her children. I really love her and I am going to miss her dearly. My prayers are with all of you.

I went to high school with Pat and we also knew her husband as he was a cousin of our neighbor Dan and Rose Colletti in Bellwood, Illinois.
Pat baby sat for our two girls when we lived in Bellwood and they both still remember the baby sitter that sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider to them.
Pat was a wonderful person and she will be missed.
Our prayers go out to her family.
Pat had a lot to do with our 50th reunion and we will be forever grateful to her.

I just had to say a few more things. I was going to go to the Funeral but I want to remember her with her smiling face only.I want to remember the woman who helped my community through so much. I remember she would go out when there were shootings and walk and talk to the guys just to make it safe for "HER" kids to get home. All students were here kids.
My heart is so sad that she is gone, but my life has been so enriched by her presence in it.I was blessed to know her. I loved her very much as did everyone who came in contact with her.

Pat was a good friend of Barb (Clancy) and I at Austin High. Barb knew her at Tilton too. What a great teacher she must have been. We were fortunate to share our 50th high school reunion with her. She was so much a part of making it such a wonderful event.

I felt a deep connection with Mrs. Tamburrino . She was nice to me and i knew her since kindergarten . She always had respect for other people and people had respect for her . She picked me in fifth grade for a play and trusted me to be the lead character in christmas carol . She was so proud of us and she took pictures for the whole crew during the play she stood in the back of the stage reading lines for the crew who had trouble remembering their lines . I will never forget her and i know that she will be missed but never forgotten . Rest in peace

When I saw Pat's obituary yesterday, I was shocked and saddened. My family lived next door to Pat and Ruth on Bellwood Avenue for many years. I was the teen-ager who always wanted to be a teacher, and conversations with Pat only increased my desire.
Pat painted a portrait of my sister when she was about ten years old, and when my sister died in 1980, I remember how hard Pat cried at the wake because her
"Anner" was gone. The picture is now in my house and will be an even more poignant reminder of Ann and Pat.
I did become that teacher, of high school history, who, unfortunately, has not finished reading students' papers that must be included in their final grades which are due tomorrow morning.
Otherwise, I would be expressing my sadness and sympathy for you, Debbie and David, in person. The words that come to my mind when I think of your mother are intelligent, caring and gracious. She always was a very gracious lady. I will keep you in my prayers.

It was a pleasure working with Pat as a retired consultant for Chicago Public Schools. She recently added some spiritual joy to my life by giving me a copy of her collection of quotes and humorous reflections expressed in church bulletins.
May God bless your family with comfort and peace as you cherish your special memories of Pat.
