Patricia Denniston Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Denniston

Patricia (Pat) Denniston was aged to perfection. She passed away at 94 after surviving five years with cancer. Pat met the man of her dreams during WWII and married, Lt. Leo C. (Cliff) Denniston August 14,1945 in Winchester, England, the last day of the war. Cliff was discharged and returned to the United States four days after their twin daughters were born in September 1946. Pat followed 3 1/2 months later with an infant daughter on each arm. Although born and raised in England, Pat loved her adopted country, the United States. Pat appreciated the opportunities of education afforded to her and obtained her Certified Public Accountant certificate retiring eventually as the Business Director for Shasta County Office of Education in 1982. She was proud of the fact she taught herself the skills necessary to change their system of manual record keeping to computer records. This brave and very generous woman had many interests enjoying traveling, gardening, cooking, playing bridge but most of all her family. She is survived, loved, and will be missed by her daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Crow, Deidre (Michael) Hobbs, grandchildren, Dena Platz, Lonnie Hobbs, Tara Crow and Ashley Crow their spouses and five great grandchildren with her sixth expected in July. As she wished, her ashes will be interred at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery with her husband, who preceded her in death in 1994. The Army First Lieutenant and his British war bride will be together again. Family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

My family was blessed to have Cliff and Pat as neighbors for a few years as we lived at silverthorn on Shasta lake. Pat did a good job of managing Cliff, when she gave him directions he did his best to comply. who could ever fill their shoes.
