Yesterday I attended a moving memorial service for Pam Dyson. The eloquent and heartfelt tributes to Pam were comforting to me and, I'm certain, to her family. Pam was an esteemed and respected former colleague and friend of mine at Mather High School. I have been proud and in awe of her many accomplishments over the years. Pam was a rare combination of intellect and personal warmth, and I was privileged to have known her. My sincere sympathies to her mother and the entire family.

Ms. Dyson (at the time) was my Division teacher at Mather 1975-1979. She certainly was, one of a kind. There was an article about her in last years paper (times) regarding the work she was doing at her current school. I was impressed, and glad to see she had become a "Dr.", that she had moved on from Mather..... I saved the article thinking one day I'd send her an email, just to say hi, although she may or may not remember who I was. Sadly, as life goes, I never made the time to do that. How sad, that I never got to say "hi", and now, I must say goodbye. I am unable to be at the memorial on 3.11.06, but will be there is spirit. She is someone who will not be forgotten by many, myself included.

I don't know how to start. I want to give Dr Dyson mother, family, and friends my condolences. My name is Yolanda Simmons. I was a student with Dr. Dyson at Mather from 1980-1984. I graduated in August of '84. I hadn't seen her in over 19 years but when I did she made me and my daughter feel just as special as when we were together in the eighties. My daughter name is Britni. She's a junior at Brooks. The first day that we saw her at Brooks it the main office. " I said to her I know you." You used to work at Mather. We hug and I introduced her to my daughter Britni. She said "you're like my grand-daughter." That made both of us feel really happy. At first, I was a little worried about the transition but when I saw her there I was very much relieved. Dr. Dyson was a very beautiful person. I'm ectastic that she touched my life and especially my daughter. Dr. Dyson may you rest in peace. You will be missed. God bless everybody that came in contact with Dr. Pamela Dyson
Love always,
your honorary
daughter and grand-
daughter

I worked with Pam at Mather High School and am saddened to learn of her death. Pam was a loving, kind, gentle woman with a great sense of humor, which she applied to her teaching. Pam will be missed by all who knew her.

To the family, friends, colleagues and students of Pam Dyson. Please accept my heart-felt condolences on the loss of a truly dedicated educator. Dr. Dyson was my English teacher at Mather High and despite my being a less than enthusiastic student, she remained patient and was instrumental in developing my skills as a reader, writer and teacher. I was very saddened to hear of her passing and consider myself one of the fortunate ones who had the opportunity to learn from such a gifted, spirited and unique teacher.
