Oscar Stanton Obituary

Stanton, Rev. Oscar Homegoing services for Rev. Oscar Stanton, 91, who made his transition Monday, February 2, 2004, will be held Friday, February 6th, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at A.R. Leak Funeral Home, 78th & Cottage Grove, Chicago, with interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 115th & Fairfield. Rev. Stanton retired as Pastor of Greater View Ensemble Baptist Church formerly located at 61st & Racine Ave., Chicago. He was also a co-founder of the Senior Citizens Gospel Ensemble, which was active from the late 70's through the early 90's in Chicago area churches and events. A daughter, Estelle Black, predeceased Rev. Stanton. He leaves to rejoice in memories of the joy and love he brought to so many, his wife, Rev. Fannie Stanton, sons, Charles (Elona) and William (Regina) Harris of California and daughter, Virginia (Clarence) Pierce of Markham, IL. His grandchildren some of whom he and his wife raised and great-grandchildren as well as several godchildren, relatives and numerous friends who became part of his ever-extending family will sorely miss him.
