Norah Glynane Obituary

Glynane, Sr. Norah, SA

Sister Norah Glynane, SA a Franciscan Sister of the Atonement, died on April 13, 2011 at St. Francis Convent ~ Graymoor in Garrison, NY. She was 91 years old.

Sister Norah was born on March 20, 1920 in Ireland to William Glynane and Margaret Greally.

Sister joined the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement in 1936. She professed her first vows in 1938 and her final vows in 1944. As an Atonement missionary, she served in Catechetical and Pastoral ministry in New York City, NY; Morrisonville, NY; Glens Falls, NY; Milford, MI; Rossinver, Ireland; Douglas, Wyoming; Assisi, Italy; Brooklyn, NY; Port Leyden, NY; Rockland, ME; Byram, CT; and the Motherhouse at Graymoor.

Sister Norah is predeceased by her sisters, Mary Glenane, Bridie Scully and Eileen Kileen.

Sister is survived by her sisters Sr. Margaret Liam, S.A., Sr. Mary Damien, S.A., Ann Coen, Kathleen Naughton, Mary Theresa Glenane, and Margaret Scully and a brother William Glenane, and nieces and nephews.

On Friday, April 15 in the Motherhouse Chapel the Reception of the Body Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 pm and the Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held in the Motherhouse Chapel on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Sisters' Cemetery, Graymoor, Garrison, NY.

Sr.Norah. You were a kind and caring person and your kindness touched everyone. You always had a smile and a warm welcome for everyone and you touched the lifes of so many people.
