Neil Archie

Neil T. Archie, 79, of Wausau passed away at his home on Saturday, January 26, 2013.

He was born in Wausau on April 8, 1933 to the late Quentin and Loressie (Richmond) Archie. After graduating in 1952 from Wausau High School, Neil served in Alaska with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. When he returned to Wausau, he began dating and fell in love with Marjorie Graveen. On July 9, 1955 they celebrated their seventh date by getting married in Pine City, MN. Neil and Marjorie made their home in Wausau with Neil working as a graphic artist at Archie's Monogram. Before retiring, Neil also was involved in the visually impaired program at NTC. Neil enjoyed playing different trivia games, bowling and was a wonderful dancer. He not only loved talking about sports especially the Brewers, Packers and Badgers but also enjoyed coaching for various sports throughout his life.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Wausau, seven children, Daymon (Lori Robinson) Archie, Valerie (Mark) Nienow, Rebecca (Ken) Brodjieski, Kyle (YongMi) Archie, Ann (Vincent) Keenan, Erin Archie all of Wausau, Nichol (Steve) Chai of Aurora, Ill., eleven grandchildren, Dan (Lisa) Brodjieski, Jennifer (Brian) Seehafer, Stephani Brodjieski, Seth Brodjieski, Philip (Kimberly) Brodjieski, Claire Brodjieski, Jena Archie, Joe Archie, Patrick Keenan, Kelsy (Konstantin) Blyakherov, Maxton Chai, one step granddaughter, Tara (Mike) Ott, ten great grandchildren, Parker, Ethan, Liliana, Norah, Madelyn, Vincent, Addison, Arianna, Cayden and Leela, one sister, Gail (Mel) Konkol of Kronenwetter, one brother, Bill Archie of Montana and his step sister, Donna (Richard) Arnold of West Allis. Neil was further preceded in death by his step father, Bill Schneider, step mother, Frieda Archie, his in-laws, and granddaughter, Kayla Archie.

Memorial services will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Rev. Tim Vanden Langenberg will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Although I did not know Neil well, never the less I loved him and thought of him often. We shared some moments.One of them at my mother's funeral in 1978. A great artist and a wonderful person.
