His honest and direct life lessons still influence my life in so many ways. I look back and remember especially his way of showing us that we need to respect others always. Like most people Ive failed to do so at times, but his memory is always there to remind me that I can do better, that others deserve better. Thank you, Mr. Winter.

I will always thank Mr. Winter for teaching me, a very self-centred young student, some often painful lessons about valuing and respecting others. This is what he was all about, teaching us life lessons to help us be better members of society, to help us communicate and see the best in those around us. I will never forget and Ihope I will always honour his values.

Mr. Winter was my 5th grade teacher at Roosevelt School, 1964-65. He was like an onion...each layer the same as the last...so his students always knew what to expect. His consistency taught a lesson that persists today: be yourself. Show the world what matters to you. Uphold your convictions and be a good person. Thank you, Mr. Winter. May your family be wrapped in the warmth of good memories from a life well lived.
