Rosenthal, Naomi (nee Ginsburg), died peacefully at her home surrounded by family. The daughter of Russian immigrants, Rose and Julius, she was a tough-minded, tender-hearted and generous teacher. She navigated life with a unique sense of style and was an inspiration to many generations. Mrs. Rosenthal was an advocate for social justice, a champion for Israel and the Jewish people, and a lover of opera, theatre, literature, the arts, and politics. An accomplished diamond polisher since her 20s, Mrs. Rosenthal took great pride in her craft. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late William P., the adored mother of David Saltz (Naomi Gitlin) and Dina (Jeffrey Silverman), the proud and dearly loved Bubbe of Rossi and Efrem Silverman, the beloved sister to the late Shirley (Jack Heifitz) and to Aaron (Cookie) Ginsburg, the loving aunt to Mitchell Ginsburg (Betsy), Noah Ginsburg, Miriam Foreman (Syd), Danny Heifitz, Debbie Porter (Keith), Michal Golden (Craig), Judy Letterman (Jerry), Joel Heifitz (Amy) and their families, and a cherished friend to Esther Tejeda and many others. Graveside service at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights, Tuesday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Holocaust Memorial Foundation of Illinois, in Skokie, Ill., would be appreciated.
