I smiled when I received the reminder of Nadine this morning in my e-mail. But that is no surprise, because every time I remember her, I smile. And as I smile, I remember her smile, glowing so beautifully. When she sat on the steps in the back of her home next door with her girls, when she would walk by our house, when she would get out of her car; she seemed to always be smiling. Even in the last year or more when she was wheeled by our house or lifted and carried out of her car, or when we visited her bedside. No matter; she seemed to always have that beautiful smile. I know for the family it wasn't always smiles... but what a gift to friends and family alike was her radiant happiness despite her circumstances. It is a gift she gave to me that I will always remember and treasure.

I knew the Schmutz family from St. Wenceslaus era. (grade school) Mrs. Schmutz, Larry and Nadine were always the most friendly of families. I will pass on the information of Nadine's passing to my brother, Bill, who now resides in New Mexico, who was a friend of Larry's. I was surprised to hear of Nadine's death, but am not surprised by the warm wishes to her family. She was truely one of a kind... even back in the 60's! God bless you all!

Nadine was such an inspiration to all who were involved with Scouting at St. Hilary's. She helped me get involved and I will never forget the camping trips, arts and crafts, and how she worked so hard on all the bridging and scout activities. Nadine gave so freely of her time and energy. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

With a heavy but grateful heart, I attempt to find a few words to share to honor this wonderful woman I knew only a little. Nadine was my next-door neighbor... and though she was not my teacher, she was indeed a teacher for me.
By the beautiful and simple way she lived, she taught me how to make any day a wonderful day; simply by smiling and declaring it so. Nothing -- including her declining health and physical abilities -- could prevent her from spreading her joyful outlook on life. That joie de vivre and her twinkling eyes are gifts that have changed me forever.
To say she will be missed is to understate the obvious -- as is to say that we are all the better for having known her. Would that each of us could carry a small bit of her beautiful spirit with us in all our dealings, our world would be a sweeter place.
Rest in peace, sweet Nadine. Thanks for everything.
with Love,
David

Nadine's presence was a gift. We were new teachers together many years ago. There was an instant connection as friends between us and we remained such since. Our families became each others' families.
Nadine will be dearly missed. Our grieving hearts are comforted by having loved and having been loved by Nadine. Her family has been given a wonderful legacy by her enthusiasm for life. She will always be in our hearts.
Love,

The neighborhood became blessed when the Mooney's moved in. Nadine always had a smile to share along with the sweet twinkle in her eyes. Everyone laughed when she was near. Her spirit will always grace Virginia Ave. And we will all be comforted by that.
My prayers are with you all.

Your mom was so sweet and outwardly positive, she is a role model to all of us. If we could each take an ounce of her determination and attitude, the world will be a better place, and the light of her flame will never die.

The quiet whisp of angels in flight came in the night. Nadine suffered greatly, and more than we can ever know. Now she got her angel's wings and is gathering in heaven to continue her teaching, which was why she was called. The young needed her here, but God needed her more. She was loved greatly and will be missed greatly by many. All of our thoughts and prayers go to all whom she left behind with saddened hearts. The void she left behind will take a long time to heal. Thinking of you all at this saddened time.
