Karl and Amy,
My mother and I stopped by the funeral home at about 2 PM because we had other commitments that day. So we were the first ones to sign the guest book.
My mother (Jeannette Mechla) wanted to pay her respects. My mother worked for the village for many years. Many of those years she worked for your father. She always said your father was the best boss. So she has known you mother for many years.
Occassionally my mother would see your mother at one store or another and they would talk.
I also have a connection to your family, many years ago when I worked with your cousin Karen at Blue Cross. One day Karen and I were talking and she asked me where I live and when I said Niles, she said that she had relateves that lived in Niles. I asked her what her relatives names were and she said I probably wouldn't know them. I asked again and she said her uncle was Ken Scheel. I told her that he was my mother's boss and so that I did know him. I told my mother that Karen who I worked with was Ken's niece. Karen later told your father. Then your father asked my mother why she hadn't told him that I worked with Karen. Also I used to attend DePaul basketball games and one day Karen attended one with her family (when Liz was a cheerleader). As it would happen your aunt and uncle sat behind me. So then I got to meet them as well as Scott and Liz. (It really is a small world.)
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
