After high school, Mil enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II as a radio man.
Mil returned home and started Campbell Machines Company, which he ran until 1986.
On June 1, 2002, he married Janis (Ryta) Walker in Grand Cayman.
Mil loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a water sport enthusiast, enjoying such sports as sailing, wind surfing and snorkeling. He also enjoyed down hill skiing and racquet ball.
His family and friends will miss him most for his warm, happy smile and wonderful personality.
Mil is survived by his loving wife, Janis; three children, Marcia (Garry) Sumerix of Essexville, Bruce (Natalie) Campbell of Arden, N.C., and Mark (Diane) Campbell of Arden, N.C.; a stepson, Adam Walker of Toronto; daughter-in-law, Joan Campbell; nine grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.
Besides his parents, Mil was preceded in death by his son, Douglas in 2006; first wife, Doloris in 1993; and brother, Milton.
A funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be directed to YWCA of Bay County endowment fund, 3405 Midland Road, Bay City, MI 48706-2896.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Elk Rapids.
