Michael Whalen Obituary
Michael J. Whalen, age 87 of Chicago passed away peacefully on December 13, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife Loretta (nee Gurtowski) for over 60 years, and brother, David (Cathy). Devoted father of Laura (John) Madden, Kathleen Sill, Kevin (Sharon) and the late Brian. Adored grandfather of Colleen (Steven) Lamancusa, Lisa (Kevin) Donnelly, Timothy Sill and Kaitlyn Madden. Great grandfather of Braden, Briana and Daxton. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Michael was raised on the west side of Chicago and a proud graduate of St. Mel's High School (1952). Retired after 40 years of service from Commonwealth Edison - Chicago North to enjoy life with his wife, family and friends. Member of the American legion Post #118. He also enjoyed golf, WTTW programing, travel, Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks. Visitation to be Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Richard Midway Funeral Home, 5749 Archer Ave. (Corner of Lorel) Chicago. Funeral Friday, December 17, 2021, 9 a.m. at the funeral home then processing to Our Lady of the Snows Church for a 10 a.m. Mass (4810 S. Leamington Ave., Chicago, Il.) Interment with military honors at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Il. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mercy Homes for Boys and Girls, 1140 West Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60607 would be appreciated.
