Michael Sherry Obituary

EmmIe and I considered Michael Sherry to be a good friend. We visited him a few years back in Montana and had a wonderful visit. He gave us a spontaneous toast at our wedding in 2004 which we truly appreciated. He knew his song lyrics. One night over a few drinks. We sang the lyrics to if I were a Rich man. The next morning he sent me a digital version of the entire Fiddler LP. He was generous, kind and sensitive. Emmie and I miss him.

You were a good friend Mike. Thanks for all the great memories fishing on Lake Erie. Thanks for taking me out of the house to the Branding Iron when I broke my neck in a car accident and was wearing a Halo Cast. Thanks for taking care of my home and family when we had a house fire. Thanks for helping me with car, house, boat, and Medicare Supplement insurance. Thanks for making me feel safe no matter what happened. Thanks for being my friend. I will miss you Mike.

28 years ago this month Mike gave this long haired (Business in the front; party in the back) kid a chance and gave me more than a job, but the start of a career. He was not only my boss but my mentor, father figure and friend. He had taught me so many life lessons that made me into the man and Insurance Agent I am today and even brought this south side boy to my first Major league game at Wrigley Field. The Christmas poinsettias every year have never been forgotten nor has the Mr. & Mrs. Claus Dixie and Mike give me that first year that come alive every Christmas since.

One of the highlights of every Christmas season was the cheerful delivery of a beautiful poinsettia plant from Mike Sherry. Mike delighted in the holiday and my children still remember "Santa" Mike driving up the driveway in an old time convertible. Mike did so much for our family and we will forever be in his debt. The world is a sadder place for his passing. My prayers are with you all.
