Michael Martin Obituary

Martin, Michael "Mike" John

Passed into eternal life with family by his side on February 5, 2021 due to Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 61. Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid reader and loved the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, biking and camping. He loved even more sharing his love for the outdoors with his grandchildren.

Born in Chicago, Illinois to John P. and Rose E. (McMillin) Martin, Mike was amongst three brothers and three sisters. Mike joined the United States Army, serving 25 years and retiring as a Master Sergeant. Mike became a Journeyman Carpenter for several years, proudly working with the United Carpenters Union of Wisconsin. To cap off his resume Mike went back to school and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay in 2012 and worked with the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Mike officially retired in 2015. Mike also enjoyed giving back to his community and volunteered with Veterans Court, The Humane Society and Good Will Place Pantry.

Mike's memory will forever live on with his wife Carla, three children; Ryan (Elena Cantu) Martin, Nicole Martin, and Adyson (Danielle) Cook, six grandchildren; Mallori and Mason Martin, Grace Skinner, Lleyton and Kolton Duffy-Dejardin, and Loraine Cantu. Mike is also survived by his father John P. Martin, brothers John (Jill) Martin, James Martin and sister Mary Foyut along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Rose E. Martin, stepmother Joyce Martin, sisters Karen Schelk and Diana Jankus, brother Joe Novak and nephew Patrick Schelk. Newcomer Funeral home is assisting in cremation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mike's smile, laughter and unwavering guidance will be missed by all.
