Dear Hionis family, we just found out about Mike's passing and we offer our sincere sympathy and love. Mike had been in our thoughts and prayers as we reflected on our parents past . My mother Evelyn Poulos loved him like a son. She even baby sitted Mike when he was little. The world was a better place because of Mike, something we all should strive for. May his memory be eternal.

EVEN THOUGH HAVE MOVED AWAY FROM CHICAGO, STILL HAVE SO MANY FOND MEMORIES OF MIKE. I COULD NOT SPEAK MUCH GREEK BUT MIKE ALWAYS GOT A KICK OUT OF ME TRYING. I WAS MANAGER OF OLYMPIC AIRWAYS TILL 2003 AND OF ALL THE GREEK AGENTS WAS ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH MIKE.

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE FAMIL

September 12, 2009

Your dad was a longtime friend of the family. My mother, Elaine Lalagos Fotinopoulos, had known him since the days in Greektown. Whenever I went to his office, Mike would tell me stories and show me pictures of his mother and my great grandmother, Demetra Trampas, who were very close friends. Mikey was a character, and there was never a dull moment with him.

My father Gregory wouldn't go to Greece without Mike arranging everything. He trusted him implicitly to be sure everything was in order from the booking to everything at the airport. I always remember him being at the airport to meet us to help with check in if necessary and to send us off.

I'm sure this is especially tough, after just losing your mom a few months ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. On behalf of the Lalagos and Fotinopoulos families, I extend our sincerest condolences. Your parents will be missed. May their memories be eternal.

Zoi se sas.

Mike was a long time friend of our mom from Greektown days. We remember his unexpected, but always welcomed visits when we were growing up. Mom was always so thrilled to see him and talk about "the good old days".
Please accept our deepest sympathy.

During the past 25 years, I had the
pleasure of having ABC Travel in my
sales territory while being employed at two major airlines. As busy as Mike might be, he always made time for my visit. After the business portion of the call was completed, I always looked forward to a few minutes of Mike sharing his life's experiences which were always most interesting.

He was in every way a gentleman who exemplified his character even more by remaining at Pauline's side during her illness. In short he was a Man's Man.

My heartfelt condolences to Mary and Peter. He will be truly missed.

Dearest Mary & Peter,

Our deepest condolences for dad.
What a character! Remember when he
used to "pop" by the office at 168 N. Michigan (Olympic Airlines) for coffee and he would proceed to tell me his "street stories" what a riot!
He would always tell me that my Theo Thanasi was the only man he trusted to have a set of keys to his office.
May his memory be eternal. Zoe Se Sas.
