Mike was a great police officer, detective and character. We worked, we laughed and usually got the job done. He will be missed.

Michael...you made coming to work half the fun..never went through a shift at A/5 Homicide without a laugh or "gotcha" when you were working. We lost part of you after the accident, but occassionaly the "old Mike" slipped through. Have a good journey buddy..see ya down the road.

When I most needed a friend Mike was there. Always a character, he loved his friends with a passion. Those old days and Mike are sorely missed.
Mike, thanks for enriching my life and giving me so many laughs and good memories. May God hold you in His arms forever.

I met, conversed and drank with Mike Herigodt through the good graces of Paul Lewis, Joe Mohan, Henry Gralak, Lester Ramowski and all the other fine lads of A/6 Special Operations Group. It was a privilege to know Mike and his friends. In fact, they inspired me to become a Chicago Police Officer.
God bless Wayne Lipsey for being such a good friend and neighbor after the accident. And double bless Commander James Fruin for his devoted friendship to Mike.
"Police Boy" Mike, have a good journey.

Mike and I worked together in the Old Area 6 and the new Area 6. We also did the ceremonial flag folding over the coffins of fallen comrades.
Enjoy your rewards Mike! You deserve them.
