Michael Evans Obituary

Evans , Michael Blakemore Dr. Michael Blakemore Evans, age 71, of Naperville, IL, passed away on June 14th, 2015, while in his second home and favorite place, Salishan, Oregon. He passed peacefully in his sleep, after a valiant year-and-a-half long battle with brain cancer. Michael was born on February 22nd, 1944 in Columbus, OH. He grew up in Urbana-Champaign, IL, then moved to the Chicago suburbs after earning a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Michael was a co-founder of the Institute for Behavioral Services and Special Education Services, which provided education to special needs children. He moved on to form his own private practice, The Center for Stress and Coping. He spent the next 34 years dedicated to helping others by providing private counseling and therapy. Michael's primary residence was in Naperville, IL, but his heart belonged on the Oregon coast, where he and his wife, Linda, shared a second residence just outside of Lincoln City. Michael was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 29 years, Linda Carroll-Evans; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Jennifer Evans of Wheaton, Illinois; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Peter Davia of Carol Stream, IL; his grandchildren, Mac and Cami Evans and Samuel, Deacon and Charlie Davia; his sister, Pamela Hook of Cambridge, Massachusetts; and his ex-wife and friend, Karen Evans of Glen Ellyn, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gwynne and Betty Evans; and his beloved granddaughter, Megan Evans. Michael's last wishes were that those he loved cherish the memories of his time with them, and not mourn his passing. In lieu of a formal memorial service, a celebration of life will be held with close family and friends at a later date.
