I just learned of Mercy's passing and my heart breaks for our loss. She was a brilliant attorney, a dedicated public servant, a supportive mentor, and a dear friend. Mercy helped hone my skills as a litigator and showed me what integrity looks like. I am a better attorney because of her. I'm grateful to have known her and will miss her terribly.

She was a wonderful woman and brilliant prosecutor and dedicated public servant. I worked with Mercedes in the CCSAO and I always valued her advice, her suggestions, and mentoring. My condolences to her family and my thoughts and prayers are with her family. We have lost a dedicated public servant who advocated on behalf of the People of State of Illinois with integrity and honor. She will be missed. Our Lord has called home a wonderful woman. May her memory be eternal

So sorry to hear about Mercy.With her big talents and bigger heart she could have done anything but she chose public service! She helped thousands of people-most of them suffering tremendous pain!
What a hero! God bless Mercy- you always lived up to your name.

Mercy, I hadn't seen you for awhile, but I will always have fond memories of all of us putting together LLC holiday food baskets, & I also remember the nice donation & encouragement you gave me in 2002 when I was preparing to do the AIDS Ride from Minneapolis to Chicago in memory of my dear friend Roberto.
