Melvin Magnuson Obituary

Melvin Magnuson, Loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 20, 2004 at age 88. Born and raised in Duluth, graduated from Duluth Central in 1935, served as a corporal in the U.S. Army, and studied accounting at Duluth Business University. A Minnesota Finance Department retiree. Mr. Magnuson is preceded in death by parents Axel and Hannah, and brother Roy. Survived by wife of 50 years, Margaret, of St. Paul; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and William Bennison and grandchildren Margaret and Scott, all of Lake Ridge, Va.; sisters Ethel Hanson of Sun City West, Ariz., Alice (Lewis) Holmquist of San Bernardino, Calif., and Gladys Chagris, Fontana, Calif; seven nephews and three nieces; and numerous grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, and friends. MEMORIAL SERVICE:10 a.m. Wednesday August 11, at Beaver Lake Lutheran Church, 2280 Stillwater Road, Maplewood, Minn. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the church. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
