Dear Don and Family,
We consider ourselves very lucky to have known and been friends with Mel for a long time. He was a sweet and classy gentleman. We enjoyed every minute that we spent with him. His voice and his laughter will live in our heart forever! (Runiu) When I first came to Chicago, Buddy and Mel were two of the first friends of Runiu's that I met, and they made me feel very welcome and a part of their family. I will miss him very much. And, never forget Mel's battle cry: "There's no such thing as bad Italian food!" (Steve)
With great love for a wonderful man, Runiu and Steve

Randy and Don, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad or my Uncle Mel. I have reflected during these past few days on the relationship our parents had for so many decades. Truly memorable and unique. A void that will forever remain in our hearts. (Laury Lewis, Chicago, IL)

The Lewis Family and the Luster Family go back nearly 75 years. Some of my fondest memories from my youth are of the times my parents spent with Mel and Rita as well as the Kovler's and Glenn Rose. Mel was the last from this group and his spirit will continue.

Linda and I send our condolences to Don, Randy and family. I have fond memories of dashing debonair Mel driving his Corvette in the 50's. He was definitely the coolest dad in the neighborhood. Don has shown us many photos of a happy and satisfied Mel with his beloved grandchildren. He lived a full life, close to his family and loved by all who knew him.
