Maxine Nash Obituary

SALUDA, S.C. - Maxine York Nash, 76, of Saluda, S.C., and formerly of Gastonia, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at her home in Saluda.

She was born in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late John Mitchell and Etta Belle Chambers York.

Mrs. Nash was a retired office worker of J.A. Jones Construction Co., and was a member of First Baptist Church, Bessemer City.

Mrs. Nash had been mostly homebound because of ill health but enjoyed frequent visits from friends and relatives. She made her home in Saluda near her nephew, Charles Mitchell Harmon and wife Carol of Saluda.

Mrs. Nash is survived by one daughter, Katrina Lee Paasch and husband Ronald of Waxhaw; one granddaughter, Kara Susanne Hemphill Weyhenmeyer and husband Mark of Denver, N.C.; nephew, Mitchell Harmon and wife Carol of Saluda; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City with a graveside service to follow at 4 p.m. Thursday at Westview Gardens with her nephew, Pastor Jim Young, officiating.

Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Abbott Samuel Nash Jr.; six sisters; and four brothers.
