Maurie Unger and wife Rosalie were probaably two of the nicest people our family has known. They were always fun and full of life and could produce a smile that would turn anyone's bad day into blue skies! A small reason of many why anyone would want to be around them!
Maurie was the postcard for male shivalry. He demonstrated his love for his wife by opening and closing doors and being the consumate husband & from my perspective would do anything possible for his family.
Maurie would often speak highly about his son and daughters as if the sun and moon opened and closed around them. He always had the nicest things to say and was a positive, very proud father and later grandfather.
Every Sunday for many years growing up my parents would enjoy lox & bagels at all the Jewish hot spots. My parents often took me along. These places would come and go but never a shortage of their friends to join. Rotating in more from the local chapter of the B'nai Brith.
Maurie Unger had a terrific sense of humor. He would always lend a hand to teach or fix anything around our house. A kid young and thirsty (like myself) learned a lot from him. He knew how everything worked and was a great teacher!
He was the type of person who never complained but always appreciated his friendships. He was a master electrician. So if some type of emergency would take place he could easily help and not just electrical practically anything at any hour!
My dad was sort of the opposite of Maurie. Overweight & out of shape and not handy with anything physical. However, Big Earl could kibbutz and Maurie loved his schpiel!
They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree? It's true! Maurie's son, Stuart was giving just like his father and helped literally dozens upon dozens of people get jobs at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Stuart even arranged for a job for me. It is rather ironic Maurie passed on the same date as my father some five years later!
Both Rosalie and Maurie are not suffering & in a terrific place laughing with lots of friends while their new generations instill the strong Unger work ethic & of course, spreading neighborly love!
My families deepest sympathies for their loss to Sari, Roberta & Stuart & to their extended families!

I was truly so saddened to hear about Morry's passing. I always remember him with a smile, and a great attitude. He would tell stories of my father and him and my grandfather chasing them when they were children.. May all your memories bring you Comfort at this sad time.
