MaryLou Taylor Obituary

MaryLou Taylor (Schell)

MaryLou Taylor, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June, 26, 2012, at the Methodist Country House in Greenville, Delaware.

MaryLou was born on May 4, 1930, in Philadelphia PA, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. James Fox Schell. Raised in Philadelphia until her teen years, her family moved to Wilmington when her father was appointed Chief General Surgeon for the newly opened Veteran's Hospital in Elsmere.

She graduated from Wilmington Friends School (1948) (where she met her husband in the 11th grade) and Centenary College (1950).

MaryLou was a talented homemaker who loved to dine out, travel the world (and she saw a lot of it), create incredible scrapbooks from those travels, and tend to her gardens. She was married for 52 years to William F. Taylor, who died in 2004. Like her husband, Mary Lou was a voracious Philadelphia Eagles fan who braved the weather on many occasions to cheer on her home team. She also dearly loved her baby grand piano and could be found nearly every morning butchering the great composers of her era.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Suzanne Taylor of Wilmington, Gregory and Carol Taylor of Phoenix Arizona, and William Jr., and Kerry Taylor of Wilmington. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Morgan Taylor, Alexis Taylor and Lillian Taylor, all of Wilmington. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Stephen, in 1960.

A visitation to celebrate her life for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 5 at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will be private.

My therapy dog, Jackson, and I will really miss our weekly visits with Marylou. She was a wonderful woman and always made us feel welcome. Marylou was always happy to have us for an episode of CSI or to bird watch. Our sympathies to her family at this difficult time. Jamie Anderson & Jackson
