Maryjane Liang Obituary

Liang, Maryjane L. 68, of Oak Lawn, passed away on June 6, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. Memorial service will be held in the chapel at St. Michael's of Old Town on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Ted Lawson officiating. Maryjane was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Edyth and Donald Schrantz on September 1, 1948. She went to high school at Morton West High School in Berwyn, IL and graduated in 1965. She went on to study music at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Indiana University, and went on to receive her Master's in Sociology from DePaul University. She was a violinist with both the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and later with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She worked later in Recruit Services and in Research and Development for the Chicago Police Department. She was a member of MENSA and the American Humane Society. She enjoyed movies, reading, music, horseback riding, entertaining and spending time with her friends and family. Maryjane was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Edyth. Maryjane is survived by her husband, James; son, John and two loving pups, Bo and Newt. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, or the American Diabetes Association. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Clare for their support in her final year.
