I admired Mary very much. My dad went to high school, with Pernell. Pernell had difficulty getting between classes, before the bell rang, so my dad would pick him up, and take him to class on his shoulders. My mom stayed in touch with Pernell, and I have a note from him, framed, by my Wizard of Oz plate (with him on it). Mary will be missed, but she'll always be an inspiration!

My condolences to her family. I remember her and Parnell came into my parents bar after they closed their bar . They were just a very nice couple .

Mary Ellen was a pleasure to work with. She was extremely dedicated and hard working. Also, very sharp even in her older years. She loved people and good conversation. Mary Ellen was an inspiration to me on how to live life. She will be missed by many.

Mary Ellen was the most sincere, genuine, and kindest individual I had met in my 21 years of working at St. Colettas of Illinois with her. I enjoyed our conversations not about work but life in general. She was always so positive and took a genuine interest in you as an individual. In the 21 years I worked there, there was not one birthday of mine that Mary Ellen missed without giving me a card and birthday wishes. I was so saddened to hear of her passing but am happy now she can be reunited with Parnell, her late husband. You will be sorely missed Mary Ellen and thank you for being the person you were. I love you and will miss you Mary Ellen.
Love,
John kubin
