well i am sure you heard this over and over last week, your mom loved you kids, but her life existed for those grandchildren! i still can't believe she is gone and how much we all miss her at work. Mary was always so easy going, nothing phased her at work, her quote always was "hey we have 8 hours to get it done and if not there is a shift that follows us!" Mary always gave us something to laugh about. Several years ago i gave her a t-shirt with the saying "PUT ON YOUR BIG GIRL PANTIES AND DEAL WITH IT" to me that was Mary!!! She was a great friend, i loved her and i will miss her.
keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

To Mike, Kathy & Karen,
Not long ago, I had to write a brief description of someone I admired. That someone was your mother.
I wrote that she was humble and unassuming; that she shunned the spot light and preferred to remain invisible.
I wrote that she would drive miles and miles to find that "something" you liked but would sputter and fuss if you tried to do anything for her.
I wrote about how smart she was and how gracefully she carried that intelligence.
I wrote that she was gentle and true and had a soft spot for all things furry and four legged.
I wrote that as timid as she may appear she was steadfast and iron-willed.
I wrote that there was very little gray in Mary's life. She knew who she was, who she loved and where she was going.
I wrote that her love and devotion to her children was surpassed only by the love and joy she felt for her grandchildren.
I wrote that she was a kind and gentle soul; the first to help, the last to accept praise.
I can't thank you Mike, you Kathy and you Karen, and your families for allowing me to share those last days of Mary's life.
I watched as a hulk of a man gently brushed his mother's hair. I watched the steely resolve of a daughter as she echoed the wishes of her mother.
I watched as you three bravely and unselfishly carried out each and every one of those wishes. I watched as your hearts were breaking, knowing you had to say goodbye.
It has been my great fortune to have had your mother as my dearest friend.
I will miss her forever.

My deepest sympathy to Mary's family. My life will be all the much better for having had the opportunity and privelege of getting to know and work with Mary. She was a dedicated, caring nurse and good friend. Mary's love for her family, esp. her grandchildren, poured out of her. I enjoyed looking at her grandkids' pictures that she carried with her in her pocket.
My thought and prayers go out to the family.

I was sad to hear about Mary's passing. I am sorry for your loss. I had worked with Mary years ago and she was a wonderful nurse and colleague. Her eyes would light up when she would talk about her grandchildren with me! Mary always had a smile on her face too.

To Mary's Family:
Your mother and I were childhood friends from our old neighborhood at 70th & Damen. I have many fond memories of the days we spent playing together, taking dancing lessions and baton lessons. Our brothers were friends too!

Karen, Kathy & Mike,
We are so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a dear friend. She was with me when our two youngest sons were born.We would go to lunch or dinner & she always had pictures of the grandkids. She would keep us laughing with the stories. We could talk for hours on the phone & always ended up talking about the kids. I'm going to miss her terribly & so sorry that I'll never get to show her the picture of my new grandson.
