To the O'Mearas:
One of the best parts of Homewood was knowing your Mother and Father. We lived on Tipton for a few years and my daughter, Nancy (Dabrowski) used to wait for the bus with you all. Bernee told me Nancy used to feed the youngest O'Meara his Cheerios so often that he would not eat them unless she fed him. Knowing and enjoying life in Homewood and especially at St. Joe's with your Mother was a wonderful part of our lives. Our neighborhood was a special place because of her. And, for that matter all the parents who cared. We moved from Homewood a while ago, but are now back living in Naperville. (Nancy lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.) Please know that Bernee is is our prayers as are all of you, too. I will be having Mass said for your Mom and Dad.

I was so fond of "Mrs. O'Meara"---a fun-loving and wonderful parent of creative and kind kids. I was always glad to see her at St. Joseph School. God bless.

Kathy (Gus:)), Colleen and "O'Bri" -
So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have great memories from my childhood of your Mom and Dad, all the Saturday nights in front of your TV watching The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, the greatest treehouse ever built in your backyard and how kind your Mom always was to me. Your Homewood house was my home away from home for many years and your Mom has such a special place in my heart. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear O'Meara siblings and other family and friends of Mrs. O'M,
Please accept empathic condolences from another of the former Ravisloe neighborhood kids. Echoing Cathy's comments, I have huge, fond memories of time spent under your Mom's watchful eye and of receiving her wry "correction messages." I am saddened to learn that she has passed on. I feel blessed to have known her for a time.

I'm so sad to hear of your mom's passing. I always feel happy when I think of your parents ... so many memories. I will miss getting her Christmas card. She always sent me a short note to let me know what all of you are up to. I loved both of your parents. You'll all be in my thoughts and prayers.

To all the O'Meara siblings and their families,
I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing - our own Mom passed away on 12/4. I will always remember the way your mom mothered all the kids in the Ravisloe neighborhood, how your home was always open to all of us, and how she trusted Anne and I to babysit all of you! While I never saw her do an Irish Jig - I know my Dad always talked about how he encouraged Bernee at the numerous Scout Group parties. Memories of both your parents are fondly remembered in the Murray clan, and I will spread the news to my siblings. So sorry I didn't hear the news in time to get to the funeral, but you are all in my thoughts and prayers today and thru this season.
Love,
Joe Mascolino

Kathy, Colleen & Brian,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. Bernee will be missed by all, she touched so many of our lives. Forever in my prayers.
Irish Prayer:
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there... I did not die...

Bernie & I went to grammar school together although I was a few years ahead of her- so have known her for over 60 years. Bob and I had been friends for 60 years and he hung around with us outside the drugstore on 63rd & Campbell. And he was one of the original members of our Full Monty reunion gang. Bernie was always at his side.
Must have been 40 years ago Barbara & I were at a oarty at their home . the big house, and there were kids all over the place. What a loving family.
Fond memories/ Goodbye Bernie, we'll miss you.
