Mary McGuire Obituary

McGuire, Mary (Maureen) Maureen McGuire (nee Mary Bridget Lydon), age 87, passed peacefully to the next life on April 9, 2014. Having lived in Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Evergreen Park for the past 44 years. She was born February 1, 1927 in Galway City, Ireland to Daniel and Winifred Lydon. Mary became a United States citizen May 13, 1969 by marrying the late Francis McGuire. Mary's brothers and sisters the late Una, Margo, the late Danny, the late Ellen, the late Sissy, and the late Padder, grew up in a time when the struggle was real in Ireland as the children of a baker. During the Irish emigration of the 50's and 60's, Mary came to America finding work as a pediatric nurse at Little Company of Mary while the rest of her siblings moved to England and Australia with Danny and Padder remaining in Ireland. Mary is survived by her only child, Danny (Jaclin) and their soon to be born child. Mary could only be described as the perfectly devoted wife and mother whose faith in the Catholic Church was unquestioned and her adoration of the Blessed Virgin unparalleled. Mary will be dearly missed by those who remain in this life. Visitation will be held April 13 at Kenny Brothers Funeral Home in Evergreen Park from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with funeral services taking place at Most Holy Redeemer on April 14 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to De La Salle Institute at 3434 S.
