Mary Benfer Obituary
Born Oct. 30, 1918, in Sunbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Ruth Vought Fertich. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Neil A. Benfer Sr.
She was a charter member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church and was retired as a teacher from Jack Jouett Middle School in Albemarle County.
Survivors include her children, Neil A. Benfer Jr., Carol B. Wall of Charlottesville, Susan B. Seward of Centreville, and Brian A. Benfer of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. this evening, at the Cherry Avenue Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Wheeler and Mr. Harv Ayres officiating.
Those who wish may make contributions to Hospice of the Piedmont 2200 Old Ivy Rd. Suite 2 Charlottesville, VA 22903.
Hill & Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
