I was hired by Arvey, Hodes right out of law school in 1974. For the five years I was at the firm, I worked primarily for Marshall. He was a great boss and mentor and he had an important impact on my life. His influence stayed with me far after I left the firm, and, even though it has been a very long time since I had any personal contact with him, I was terribly saddened to hear of his passing. My wife Linda and I send our sincerest condolences to his family.

Reading Marshall's Obituary is reading the story of a wonderful American. He loved his family, succeeded in his profession, and contributed to many worthy causes.

I will remember Marshall as a wonderful friend and neighbor in Chicago. He always added an interesting perspective to our wide ranging conversations. He possessed a sophisticated wit and charm that I will always recall fondly. Love to Susan and family.

My deepest condolences to the Burman family. I am the Assistant Property Manager at the condominium building where Mr. and Mrs. Burman reside in Chicago. Little did I realize, my grandmother, Marilyn Elkins, worked for Mr. Burman for over 40 years at his firm Arvey, Hodes, Costello and Burman. My grandmother passed in 2005, but always spoke very highly of Mr. Burman. He was a wonderful man, and I know he will be missed.
