Mark A. DePaolo, 73 years of age, left this earth on Thursday, Aug. 15, after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving husband of Nancy Nickell for 34 years. Devoted father to Christopher and Michael DePaolo. Loving brother to Mari Jo and the late Grace DePaolo. Dear brother in-law of David and Julie Nickell and fond uncle to Paul Johnson, Jimmy Nickell, Shelby and Austin Wollscheid. He will be deeply missed by his immediate, extended family, and friends. Mark received his BA degree from DePaul University before earning his Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University Law School. Mark was an accomplished and well-respected attorney in the Workers Compensation field of law and a staunch advocate for fair and just compensation for injured workers. He was recognized numerous times as a top performer in his field by Super Lawyers, and Best Lawyers in America honored Mark as one of the finest Workers' Compensation Lawyers in the field; he was also a past president of the Illinois Workers Compensation Lawyers Association (WCLA). Mark will be sorely missed by his firm, clients, and colleagues. Personally, Mark gave generously of his time and money. He made many spontaneous and anonymous donations to those in need without recognition. Mark was an avid golfer and for many years organized and conducted an annual "Dads and Kids" golf tournament, sharing his passion for the sport with his son's Chris and Michael who still maintain that love for the game. Mark also loved boating on Lake Michigan, sports cars, model trains, planes and other hobbies that he shared with his family and friends. Mark received many professional and personal accolades, but none were more important to him than making his family proud. His family is very grateful to God for giving them the opportunity to learn from such a giving and wonderful man over a long lifetime. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25 from 1-4pm with a memorial service starting at 4pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St, Willowbrook, IL.
